Instructions to download and customise
web based simulations for off-line use

 

1.     Type in “natsim search” to the Google search engine

2.     Type in a physics topic to the NatSim-Search, e.g. “momentum”

3.     Choose a link to view the applet on-line

4.     Use the download option [zip] to download all relevant files to your computer in order to play the applet off-line [1]

5.     Use hyperlink “CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD…” and save on the desktop

6.     Unzip the downloaded file. This will create a new folder which contains your web page (.html) within.

7.     Open the Word program. Choose File/Open and browse the desktop to locate the downloaded folder. (choose as “file type”: all files !)

8.     Locate your web page in folder and open it in Word. It is now possible to edit/customise the text. Do not delete the small icons that represent the applet fields.

9.     Use “File/Save as…” to save the changes as a new file in the same subfolder as the original file. (choose as “file type”: all files !)

10. Close Word.

11. Locate your changed file and open it to view the changes.

 

 

NatSim download options:

[html]   -   leaves the program files and images at the original site. This resolves some copyright

               issues, but won't work off-line.

[zip]     -  for off-line use, attempts to download program and image files, too. You need

               WinZip or a similar application to extract the downloaded file.

[exe]    -  for off-line use, attempts to download program and image files, too. This will

               automatically extract on double click (Windows only).
